The Philippines is ready for HD. Sony has made sure of this as it began introducing HD-ready products, such as the CRT Projection TVs in 2004, continuing on to 2005. Come 2006, Filipinos were already enjoying HD viewing with the rest of the world through the Sony Bravia SXRD and X Series televisions. This 2007, Sony is opening a new chapter of its high definition saga with the release of all-new HD products, including HD Cyber-shots and HD Handycams.
The new additions to the bigger and better Sony HD World consist of high-resolution Sony Cyber-shot models (H9, H7, T100, T20, W90 and W80) and Handycam models (UX7, UX5, HC7 and HC5). These models, together with the Sony Bravia HDTVs, Sony Photo Printers and Hard Disk Photo Storage Device, offer a total solution for HD enthusiasts: snap HD, shoot HD, view HD and print HD.
This HD revolution is also part of Sony’s effort of bringing the HD experience on a more personal level. Even in the absence of HD broadcast in the Philippines, we can still enjoy the full, end-to-end HD experience right in our homes, or at the beach, or during parties, or just about anywhere and anytime that we feel like it.
Capture rare and precious moments where they happen, as they happen, with the new HD Cyber-shot cameras empowered by Sony’s Bionz technology. Bionz technology enables high-speed capture of high-quality photos in HD output. This impressive technology was previously used only in the more advanced Sony D-SLR Alpha 100 cameras. Take photos like a pro with the latest additions to Sony T-Series (T100 and T20), W-Series (W90 and W80) and H-series (H9 and H7) models.
The 8.1 mega-pixel T100 and T20 stand proud with 3-inch LCD screens and 5x and 3x optical zoom, respectively. The models also feature a 1cm magnifying glass and macro mode that enables detailed shots of objects at 1cm. Their enhanced noise reduction processing also improves high-sensitivity shooting and increases speed and precision, optimizing dynamic range and color reproduction to produce sharper and richer photos in both dim and bright environments.
The new Cyber-shot W-series include the Cyber-shot W90 and Cyber-shot W80 that boast of 8.1 mega-pixels and 7.2 mega-pixels image resolution, respectively. Both models feature a generous 2.5” LCD screen for a more detailed viewing of high-definition images.
Meanwhile, the new H-series models exceed expectations from compact and lightweight cameras. The 8.1 mega-pixel H9 and H7 don an impressive optical zoom of up to 15x, enabling users to zoom into faraway objects like fishermen in their boats in the middle of the sea or trees atop mountain ranges opposite the seashore. This and the high shutter-speed capability makes the H-series stand out effortlessly. Take photos of seagulls in flight with a prey sandwiched in their beak or of a butanding before it could dive back into the sea. With an H9 or H7 in hand, no moment would be lost.
Catch all the fun and be able to relive them forever with the four additions to Sony’s collection of high-definition camcorders: two AVCHD (HDR-UX7 and HDR-UX5) that record videos on 8cm DVD discs, and two HDV (HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC5) that record on miniDV tapes.
With the new Enhanced Imaging Processor and Sony’s original ClearVid CMOS Sensor, higher end models UX7 and HC7 can record with wider dynamic range, advanced high-speed, higher sensitivity and lower noise, as well as shoot with higher resolution of up to 6.1 mega-pixels of still images, which is already equivalent to that of a high-end digital camera. The UX5 and HC5 can shoot photos of up to 4 mega-pixels. Another advantage of the new Handycam models is the dual recording function that lets users take high-resolution still images even while recording. Images taken during dual recording with the UX7 and HC7 can be set to up to 4.6 mega-pixels, and 2.3 mega-pixels for the UX5 and HC5. The four new models also incorporate useful features such as the Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization that efficiently reduces blur and allows stable shooting for both video and still images.
Only Sony can claim superiority in HD, as no one else can provide holistic solutions of snap, shoot, view and print in full high definition. Immerse yourself in wave after wave of intense HD experience whichever bend and corner of the world you may be. View your HD photos and videos right after you take them on the models’ large LCD screens. Or print them in a jiffy with Sony’s portable printers, such as the DPP-FPHD1, that uses a unique dye-sublimation technology to ensure continuous color tone for each print. This printing process produces more than 16 million distinct colors for each pixel, surpassing the quality of even the highest-quality print with only 128 distinct colors per pixel. This also enables Sony Digital Photo Printers to create HD-quality, beautiful vivid color prints. The new HD Handycam models also allow for precise capture of still images from videos to produce photo-quality prints. Using the supplied Picture Motion Browser software, users can actually choose the best scene from a recorded video and convert it to photo quality images.
And if you have a Sony Bravia HD television sitting pretty in your living room, images and videos taken from a trip will become a major viewing spectacle when you see these memories played back on your large LCD screen.
Only the Bravia Engine PRO of Sony Bravia televisions can create 1080p resolution that enhances HD viewing. This unique full digital processor by Sony works miracles as it filters the image, enhances the contrast, smoothens the motion, strengthens the blacks, matches the colors, widens the tone range and cleans up the text, all at the same time, to deliver exceptionally fine picture details, combined with rich colors for that startling realistic effect on the screen. The Bravia is also capable of producing theatre-quality audio because it can support “5.1” surround sound recorded through the Handycams.
The HDMI connectivity feature of the Sony HD World Solution facilitates harmonious interconnectivity among the different HD equipment, allowing each to perform at its best while contributing to the outstanding performance of the whole system. It enables high-definition audio-visual contents recorded with the HD Handycam models to be played on the Sony Bravia via a single cable. Still images from the HD Cyber-shot and Handycam can also be displayed in full HD on a Bravia television. View slide shows of HD photos complete with your favorite music in the background via the HD Slideshow function. Create creative presentations as a way to share your treasured memories with family and friends.
The HDPS-L1 is another feature of the Sony HD World Solution. This new Hard Disk Photo Storage Device is the world’s first digital photo album, and it offers an innovative way of storing and sharing high-resolution images taken with the HD Cyber-shots. Photos stored in the device can also be viewed in full high-definition on the Bravia, either singly or in a slideshow presentation.
