Why is my computer not moving to hibernation on Windows Me and I receive a printer port error message?
    or
When I try to move my computer into hibernation by clicking [Start] -> [Shut down] -> [Hibernate], it does not move into hibernation or immediately returns from hibernation sometimes. When this symptom occurs, the [ECP printer port (Ipt1) (bios\*pnp0401\00) denied the suspend.] error message is written to the Susfail.txt file.

This symptom may occur when multi-purpose devices (printer, FAX device, etc.) are connected to the extended capability port (ECP) and those devices are activated (e.g. the device is monitoring the port, expecting an incoming FAX).

To resolve this symptom, you have to disable the activated FAX or multi-purpose devices before moving the computer into hibernation.
