If I format a Memory Stick from My Computer or Explorer, I can't use it normally sometimes. Why is that so?



If you format the Memory Stick from the format menu of My Computer or Explorer, you may not be able to use it normally sometimes. Always format a Memory Stick with a dedicated equipment or software.

To use the Memory Stick with a portable player or a digital still camera, please format it with the respective equipment.

# To format the Memory Stick with your VAIO computer, please refer to the following procedure to start [Memory Stick Formatter] for the formatting of your Memory Stick.

--Procedure--
1) Click [Memory Stick Formatter] from [Start] -> [Programs] -> [Memory Stick Utility].

2) The following warning message appears sometimes.
[To format Magic Gate Stick Memory, a Memory Stick slot supporting
Magic Gate is necessary. If the device has its own function such as with
Memory Stick Walkman. Use that instead.]
You may disregard the warning message and click the [OK] button.

3) Select a memory stick drive (E: or S: in this case) on the drive list in the [Memory Stick Formatter] window and click the [Start Format] button.
