One word... WOW Yes this is a very expensive lens but the results are phenominal. The trigger to take the pludge was a family wedding and i paired it with the A7R5... and that was a wedding match it itself. It was the only lens i used thoughtout the day and the evening... i prefer not to use a flash in the evening in order to catch the realistic ambient light... and this lens produced outstanding images that required very little post work. The bokeh is exceptional, so smooth and no bokeh balls. The sharpness is as you would expect, edge to edge. The control of the lens is fantastic, apperture ring click is light and gives great feedback (or smooth if you prefer) and the zoom ring swing range is very nice and short. The weight is manageable and didn't cause me any fatigue in the fingers or hand... and i had it in my hands for many hours during the day. The focal range is good, it would be absolute perfect if it were say 35-150mm... but zooming out using feet and cropping in post if needed works just as well though. Would i recommend... absolutely, especially when paired with A7R5... 60M sensor size and lens quaily give endless possibilities.

Sharp and fast... Had several cameras and Sony is still best in catching moving moments and the lens match well Sony full-frame camera.

this is a lens that produces very good results provided you are willing to invest in the $$$, bag space, weight and practice in handling it. This is a no nonsense lens only for committed photographers.

I bought this a month ago for indoor sports photography and it has been an amazing workhorse and does not disappoint. Fast aperture, amazing micro-contrast, and beautiful bokeh, no regrets!

The practical focal lengths, ranging from 50mm to 150mm, proved extremely versatile. I recently used ​w​ith A9iii to cover sports events, including the SG Classic (Gymnastics) and the TDF Singapore Criterium 2025. I was able to capture all the shots I needed without having to switch to my second camera. I also appreciate the image quality. The bokeh is creamy and smooth, providing excellent separation between the subject and the background.

Without sugarcoating it, i must say this lens is an engineering marvel that redefines what a zoom can be. Yes, it’s heavy and expensive, but i do demand peak image quality, buttery bokeh, and its relentless autofocus, which i find myself reaching for it every chance i get. For me, it’s the lens I never thought I’d own—and now I can’t imagine shooting without it.

This lens is extremely sharp and smaller than expected, Out-of-focus style is also good . It can completely replace the prime lens.

I bought this lens a month ago and I am happy that I did. It was a week before my daughters dance performance. It usually gave me frustration because the lighting can be so far from what I call "ideal". Don't get me wrong, I was using 70-200 f2.8 GM which another fabulous camera especially for outdoor activities. Using 50-150 give me more freedom and flexibility at the same time for many occasions, even when I do portrait photography, it give me a superb bokeh, so creamy and helps to brighten the colours. Though I still prefer my 50mm f1.2 GM for specific event, but this one lens is very clear have similarity result in the same focal length with the 85mm, and 135mm, and certainly uncomparable at 150mm with f2.0. This is now my most favorite tele lens that always in my camera bag.

I brought this lens to Safari in Zambia and Sabi Sands, and it was an excellent choice. Most of my shots were taken with the 300mm F2.8 and this lens in 2 bodies. This lens enabled me to compose the wildlife with or without its background; isolating them with wide aperture or stopping down for better depth of field. It was also the lens of choice when the big animals were closer. Its fast aperture also allowed me to shoot at dawn or at dusk. Personally, I think it's a better choice than 70-200 which would have excluded certain scenic shots.

Solid build quality, fantastic optical performance even in low light condition. Very versatile to use in different scenarios. Handing is easy and weight not so bad as originally experienced. Love it much!

Amazing lens I bought in my career. I use this for everything. Landscape, portraits and even street photography. I sold few lenses and I travel only with this and my 35 mm GM. I have a Sony a7rv and the fx 30. I’m a photographer but sometimes I like to do small video. I cannot ask more ..,
