In Windows XP，users can share folders and drive with network users or other users on the computer.
To do so, please refer to the following steps.
Note:
- If logging on as a Guest，users cannot create shared folders.
- Users cannot share the system folders, such as Documents and Settings, Program Files or Windows.
In addition，users cannot access to the shared folders of user profile for other user accounts.

How to share folders?
- Show the folders to be shared.
- Right-click the folder, and then click Sharing and Security.
- Perform the operations according to the different images shown as below.

Please follow the steps below to share folders.
- Check Share this folder on the network, and then type a name in Share name:.

If necessary, check Allow network users to change my files. |
- Click OK.
If files sharing have been successfully configured, the folder icon should now appear as a hand holding a folder.

Please follow the steps below to share folders.
- Click If you understand the risk but still want to share the root of the drive, click here..
- Select Share this folder in Sharing, and then click OK.
- Select Share this folder on the network, and then type a name in Share name:

If necessary, check Allow network users to change my files. |
- Click OK.
If files sharing have been successfully configured, the folder icon should now appear as a hand holding a folder.

Please follow the steps below to share folders.
- Click Other folders in The options in this tab are disabled because of the specified subfolder included in the folder.
- When the properties of the folder displays, uncheck Set the folder as private.
- Click OK.
If files sharing have been successfully configured, the folder icon should now appear as a hand holding a folder.

Please follow the steps below to share folders.
- Click Sharing, and then check Share this folder
Remark
- The read, write (modify) permissions of the user or user group can be set via read, write and modify in Security.
- Click Everyone of Group or user names in the Security tab, and then check Allow of read, write and modify.
- Click OK.
If files sharing have been successfully configured, the folder icon should now appear as a hand holding a folder.

Remark
- By sharing a home folder, the subfolders will also be shared.

How to share drivers? |
|
- Click Start, and then click My Computer.
- Right-click the driver to be shared, and then click Sharing and Security.
- Click If you understand the risk but still want to share the root of the drive, click here..
- Select Share this folder on the network, and then type a name in Share name:

- Click OK.
